Paramount+’s Super Bowl LVII ad will make you wonder which of your favorite characters from film and TV would survive a trek through the most unforgiving terrain.

Move over Everest and Half-Dome. There’s a new (fictional) climbing destination for (fictional) mountaineers everywhere: ‘Stallone face,’ introduced by Paramount+’s Super Bowl LVII ad.

The streaming service has returned to the Super Bowl stage with a new ad that puts iconic TV characters – including Beavis and Butthead, Star Trek’s Captain Pike, Dora the Explorer and others – on a high-stakes expedition in search of a famed rock formation known as the Sylvester Stallone Face.

However, the characters in the ad aren’t so amused. Lower Decks’ Beckett Mariner asks her crew members, “Who’s crazy enough to climb that?“

Suddenly, a jump cut reveals the Rocky star himself, Mr. Stallone, barely holding on to the rock. “Hey, how you doin’?” he says in his distinct manner of speaking.

The ad, which is an homage to his 1993 film Cliffhanger, represents a continuation of the brand’s ongoing ’Mountain of entertainment’ campaign. The platform was first introduced two years ago at Super Bowl LV.
