Scharpf started his career at Fallon in Minneapolis before joining Venables Bell & Partners in 2006 as an associate creative director. He also spent time as a freelancer for agencies including BBH, Chiat\Day, David & Goliath and DDB, among others.

Among Scharpf’s most notable accomplishments: his work with the Intel 'Look Inside' campaign, as well as Reebok’s ‘Be More Human’ and Chipotle’s brand relaunch.

Scharpf had also helped secure Chipotle as a new business win, and helped VB&P add on Audi, Skyy Vodka, Chef Boyardee, Adidas Golf and Google Fiber.

Scharpf is to report to Britt Nolan, Leo Burnett’s chief creative. Nolan said of the new hire: “Tom’s reputation as a creative leader is absolutely outstanding. He’s not just able to make amazing work - he has the strategic chops to drive teams beyond clever ads and into true creative solutions. The idea of combining Tom’s talent with the scale of our brands makes me super excited.”

Scharpf added: “Samsung is an ambitious brand that has an innate confidence about them, and the ‘Do What You Can’t’ platform has endless potential. I see incredible opportunities for our work with Samsung to impact everyday culture and continue to build momentum and love for this brand.”

Leo Burnett has seen its existing Samsung business expand recently: in June, the agency won over Samsung's screen technology arm.
